Pixlr – An Online Photo Editor
I had some pictures which I was taken for a presentation. Just wanted to customize the pictures before adding it to the presentation. As I remember, it was a busy day at office and I couldn’t find a photo editing software to fulfill my requirements. I tried looking for adobe photoshop and other related applications. But, all that I found is to download & install the set-up, even portable apps. Eureka!!!!… suddenly, I remembered a phrase that I use to blabber which “I use Google before asking dumb questions”. So, that I thought why don’t I try googling & find some online editors which can complete my request. There were so many, but just one simple web impressed me a lot. Well, that’s non-other than Pixlr.
If you are a Photoshop heavy user like I am, you are likely to miss it when you are away from home, without your PC or laptop: sure you have Photoshop.com as a great alternative, but it might not satisfy you at all, specially from the layout point of view since it looks totally different from the original version. Luckily there is a fantastic fully web-based alternative, which will make Photoshop’s absence easier for you. Yes, it’s Pixlr, an online full-featured Photoshop-like image editor, which allows you to modify your images without installing any type of software, at begginer’s and advanced levels.
Pixlr Editor
First option ever, which will prompt with a set of selection. User can select whether he/she need a new image to be created or any other images to be imported using below available options. Once done, pixlr will give the user the editor interface.
Tools, Navigator, Layers & History
Practically, these are similar to Adobe photoshop options, which will let the user edit, sort, crop… etc using set of various tools. Navigator will help the user to see an overview of the image currently you’re playing with. Layers will help the user to identify on what are the current layers available & editing with. History records all your current modifications, addition to the image…etc. So that a user can undo to an earlier step when any mistakes happen.
Formatting Toolbar and Shortcuts
The Formatting Toolbar just looks the same as users have in other softwares & programs such like file, edit, view… etc. Users can find find more options which are expanded than using tools available on Tool box. Shortcuts define the same meaning where users can use short commands without selecting from the menu or so.. (e.g.: to copy a file – CTRL+C, to paste file – CTRL+V.. etc).
Pixlr Express
If you want to do some basic improvements to an image, you may use Pixlr Express. It is a reduced and simplified version of Pixlr, which gives you access only to the main features and effects. When an image is opened, you will be able to resize it, crop it, and rotate it. Other than that, you can add filters and basic effects, as well as adjusting brightness, levels, sharpen and blur, and remove red eyes.
